The Sick Child

By

I passed Fossveien No. 7, where a green plaque quietly marks the death of Munch’s sister Sophie. She died there in 1877, aged fifteen, of tuberculosis. That loss became the emotional spine of The Sick Child and Death in the Sickroom – paintings that don’t just depict grief, but inhabit it. Standing before that wall, I felt the weight of memory pressing through time. It wasn’t just a historical note. It was a wound still echoing.
